Too Close a Comedy
pathos fractures
as the laughter scrapes bottom
with its newly heavy sandpaper breath
a humor run on fumes can foul the engine
create a thickness in the pumping of the lungs
distance is the only thing that keeps our sensibilities from bleeding.
