cold relationship poem.

This body chose to forget you
I can see your face through calculated window panes.
Outside those walls the memories crumble
& deteriorate like newspaper.
Your name separates into grit and tawny debris.

I love you
& I know how cold it is,
but no amount of forlorn
could frown this door back open.

If I let your shadow in,
you'd collect all your footprints
and leave your longing
pristine with the snow.

For magpie tales.

  7. I felt such a sadness reading your poem, I loved the idea of collecting footsteps as though they had never been. A lovely poem.

  10. Dear Wendy: The dream imagery is very catching as in "big chill"! Especially love these lines;

If I let your shadow in,
    you'd collect all your footprints

Is it just me, or is this person a tad possessive of possessions which will one day possess entirely lock stock and barrel (along with those expensive footprints). I LOVE THIS! Very imaginative and paradoxically; realistic in a relation to those close relationships of the heart!

The person this is about is very controlled about they was they affect things and let themselves be affected. Being careful with his possessions (both physical and otherwise) was totally a part of that.
It seems like you looked very deeply into this poem and I am overjoyed that you did. Thank you so much! and thanks for the follow!
